For those who need a model of how a gradient mesh portrait ought to look. Created in Illustrator CS3. The .ai file includes the stock photo from which I drew the vector.
I would like to note that I tried to be as subtle and stylized as I could with this as I used it in a poster series and wanted it to conform to the style in which I had created the rest of them. That's why there doesn't appear to be as much detail as I could have done, and also why her hair is flat. Please mess around with this, move things around, change things. This is for you to learn how to use Illustrator better, giving you a finished version from which to deviate and maybe get some ideas. Any questions? My messageboard might be of help to you. |

It took me about two weeks (working in class) to really get the hang of gradient mesh and how to manipulate it the way I wanted to. I'm still learning - I think that's part of being a designer.
